Short clips and adages

Today and yesterday, I started to add short clips and adages in order to get our attention about a topic. It's meant to get us to think.

SUGGESTION: You might want to spend time journaling about them. They provide more ways for you to grow more loyal in your faith.

It does not matter if you do them today or tomorrow, or a month from now. They might be all you can do in a day, or they might be just the right length to add a little more time when you crave more time with God and you already did a lesson or two from this Bible study blog.

Lonely?

Do you ever feel lonely?

When you do, have you tried to add a great deal more alone time with God and his Word in your life? You most likely are craving time with him.

Some Alone Time

I do not know about you. But, I crave alone time with my spouse. It is quality time that seals the bond between us. I cherish it deeply.

Of course I feel this way. The relationship between husband and wife mirrors our relationship with God.

Do you feel stir-crazy? Blah? Like something is missing in your life? Like something just isn't right?

Well, there is your answer. You are craving alone time with God.

Take some. Nourish your heart, mind, body, and spirit.

Complacency

Are you complacent in your faith?

Neutral? Not moving? Not growing? So-so?

Grab your journal workbooks and write your thoughts. Then, answer the following question.

Have you thought how your faith impacts other lives?

Have you thought how your faith, and your lack of it at times, impacts the lives of others?

When our faith is low, we are less obedient to the Lord, and are acting more distant with him. As a matter of fact, we are more likely to be engaged in sin.

So, if we do not lay the seed of faith in everyone around us, their faith will not be as strong either. After all, everywhere we go, we leave seeds. We leave healthy seed of the fruitfulness of faith, or we leave seeds of weeds that can take over everything around them.

Do you hear the responsibility we have in our faith? We need to grow so we do not keep others from having as fruitful and faithful lives--as well as all of the other reasons.

Grab your journal workbooks, please.

205 Write your thoughts about what you just read.

206 Have you thought of how your faith and your lack of faith impacts the lives of others this month? 207 This week? 208 today?

209 What did God say to you after reading this blog post?

210 What did you say to God after reading this?

211 How faithful do you want to be now?

212 How will you live differently, starting today, because of this. List three ways you will start to apply this to your life:

Clean my heart, Lord

I know my heart and mind can be full of sin and wrongdoing.
Clean my heart, Lord. Purify me. Help me to only be open to You and Your Word.
~ Stacy Duplease

Question

The closer we are with God, the more intimate, the more loyal of faith we will have.
How can you know when your faith is waning? You will feel distant from the Lord.
~ Stacy Duplease

Adage of revival

A loyal faith is synonymous with revival.
~ Stacy Duplease

Adage: An ignited passion

An ignited passion in Jesus Christ and the Word is a mark of a loyal faith.
How is your passion? Ignited or blah? Or is it something in-between,

Etc. Etc. Etc.: Amazon Kindle Fire

ETC. ETC. ETC.
Whenever you see 'Etc. Etc. Etc.', it has nothing to do with this Bible study at all. It's me just babbling about something. You'll see these from time to time. (As you can see, I'm part of the redundancy department department.)

I LOVE TO READ
I love to read. I always have. I'm one of those, I get paid, I buy books first and then I pay for food, as a Barnes & Noble bag states. Not literally. But, it could easily be true.

I HAVE THOUSANDS OF BOOKS
I even have thousands of books on my shelves. They fill 5 shelving units where there are abut 60 books per shelf and there are 6 shelves. This is after I got rid of 1,000 books or so already.

THE AMAZON KINDLE 2
My husband bought me the Amazon Kindle 2 for Christmas four years ago (I think.) It was at my request. I wasn't sure if I would be able to make the move from paper books to digital books. Well, it didn't take me long to realize I was hooked. So, I got rid of 1,000 paper books because I converted them to digital books.
I now have over 1500 books on my Kindle.

AMAZON KINDLE FIRE
So, I heard about a new Amazon tablet coming out in July and waited until 30 September to get the news of what it would be. On 01 October, my wonderful husband purchased it for me. I've been waiting quite impatiently to receive it ever since.

Well, the wait will end tomorrow. That is when I will receive it!!!

Drumming fingers on desk. Tapping foot. Can't concentrate. I am so excited!

Remember the Simplicity of Your Faith ~ The Basics of Faith ~ John 3:16

REMEMBER THE SIMPLICITY OF YOUR FAITH
Faith in Jesus Christ is not supposed to be complicated. You either believe--or you do not.

Hence, you are either going to heaven or to hell. Either you will spend eternity with the Father or absent from him. Either you have a new self or are the same old self. Regardless, you are a sinner and you do wrong things, think wrong things, and feel wrong feelings at times.

That's it. It is that simple.

Please grab your journal workbooks at this time and answer this question--again, please.

195 QTP (Question to Ponder) Are you a Christian? Do you believe?

196 QTP What does it mean to believe?

Please grab your Bibles at this time. At least three versions are suggested with one being The Amplified Bible (AMP). We are going to take a look at John 3:16.

197 What do you learn in John 3:16 from your first version of the Bible?

198 What do you learn in John 3:16 from your second version of the Bible?

199 What do you learn in John 3:16 from your third version of the Bible?

200 What does John 3:16 mean to you?

201 Answer QTP 195 one more time, but with this new information.

202 Answer QTP 196 one more time, but with this new information.

203 What does this mean for your life?

204 How can you apply John 3:16 to your life today?

HOW DO YOU BECOME A CHRISTIAN?
It is simply through believing what is said in John 3:16.

A Bible study without application is pointless

How many Bible studies have you done where it's a fill in the blank or ask a specific question about the text--where if you read it, you learned all of that?

Most Bible studies are like that.

I have a question for you. Have they produced a permanent change in your thinking or behavior that you can trace back to that study? What about many instances of this?

Let's face it. The Word is meant to be known and to be lived. If we don't, we aren't getting out of it what we should and we miss the entire point.

The Word is meant to be lived. We are to apply it to our lives and we should see changes in our feelings, thoughts, behaviors/actions, and choices. If we do not, we missed the point.

It makes me sad how most Bible studies out there do not talk about application. And those that do give general examples. But, what about you and your life? What does the verse or passage mean to you? That is what is most important. Otherwise, you waste your time and miss the point.

That is why this Bible study is set up the way it is. It is to help facilitate this in your life.

When you write the applications down, you can remember you wanted to work on that. And you can review and analyze your progress later. Through writing it down, you will start to see more and more concretely about how God is working in your life, around your life, and through your life.

Be careful with the Bible studies you do outside of this study. If they don't offer you these things, you might want to avoid them--or supplement them by doing this on your own. Do not let the Word be null, void, and pointless in your life. Let it create a change in your life where you develop a greater intimacy with the Lord.

Why This Format? Part 2: Why write things down?

WHY THIS FORMAT OF BIBLE STUDY?
Why write things down? You may grumble under your breath or you may rather find the idea intriguing.

A The main reason is we tend to forget. It's to help us remember.

Let me make the point. Name 5 of the things God told you from March to April in 1999. Or, if you were not a Christian at that time, list 5 of your biggest blessings at that time or 5 of your strongest memories.

If I didn't journal, I would never be able to answer that question. However, I can. I am not saying this to brag. No. I am the chief of sinners. I have nothing to brag about. Nevertheless, I say that because I want to tell you that I can track my journey with God. I can tell you where I continually slip-up, the monuments/mile-markers of my journey, and so on. This is the most valuable thing I have in my effort to continually grow a more loyal faith in the Lord and in his Word. And I bet you would like to say the same.

B It's to help us implement the application of the Word into our lives. In other words, it's to help us apply the Bible to our lives on a daily basis--and to remember what we have learned and are working on in our lives.

C It gives us a testimony to share with others. We've been there, done that.

D It helps us to review and see what's worked and what hasn't.

E It allows us to see when we grow in closeness in relationship with the Lord, or when it diminishes--no matter how slightly.

F It helps us remember what God has said to us and what we have said to God.

G Etc.

Faith is not just doing: It's being and relationship.

No action is required on our part as Christians in order to be forgiven for our wrongdoings and so we will live eternally in heaven. All we need to really do is believe.

Be with the Lord.

Seek him first and above all.

Doing is less important than relationship. Our faith should be full of acts of a changed life and a changed person who follows the Lord and his Word. However, we should have the change in behavior because we want to draw closer to God--not because we think we have to. We don't have to. We are already forgiven. Our actions do not lead to more forgiveness. It leads to a closer relationship.

However, another, more simple way of saying all of this is:

If you actively and intentionally seek a closer relationship with the Lord, you will naturally do what brings you closer to Him.

What are these doing things I refer to?
A Reading the Bible
B Prayer
C Bible Study
D Journaling Notebook
E Worship
F Etc.

Is this Bible study a must? No. But, it will bring you closer to the Lord and bring you to have a deeper relationship.

New(er) Christians and for those who do not believe, but are curious and want answers

Coming soon will be blog posts particularly for newer Christians, for those who do not believe, and for the Christians who thirst enough for the Lord that they want to remember the simplicity of the faith.

These blog posts and Bible studies will be called, "Remember the Simplicity of your Faith."

You might also call these the stepping stones.

If you are in any of these categories, you will from time to time want to re-download the newest version of the blog-based book I'm putting together at Smashwords (refer to the link below). There will be additional material there and in a different order than what is on this blog.

My writing life verse: John 21:25

******* John 21:25 (AMP): And there are also many other things which Jesus did. If they should be all recorded one by one [in detail], I suppose that even the world itself could not contain (have room for) the books that would be written. *******

~*~ 14 Nov 2011: This is my life verse. I want to write this many books about Jesus and our Father.

Author Blog Post: Yearly Tradition

This is not part of the Bible study--directly. But, I still want to write about this.

It is a yearly tradition of mine to do three things:
A Evaluate the year.
B Buy a new Bible.
C Buy a new devotional.

I've done these three things for years. Except last year and I won't again this year. Sigh. I have not found a new Bible or a new daily devotional I would want to buy--or I already have it. There are not any new to the market I would want to spend money on.

Frown.

Has this been a problem for you? Please email me or attach a comment below.

This has me rather upset. Where are the new Bible studies, Bibles, and daily devotionals--that are quality?

The oldies but goodies haven't failed me: Beth Moore, Kay Arthur, David Jeremiah, Chuck Swindoll, Max Lucado, etc. Let me make that clear. All of these people still produce--and produce quality stuff.

I am just bummed because I did not find a Bible which could offer me as much as http://www.studylight.org

What are your thoughts?

This is another reason why I am doing A Loyal Faith.

Are you a Christian and John 3:16 Questionnaire and Template

Here is another baseline we need to establish, so we can see if your answer changes in the future.

182 QTP: Are you a Christian?

183 QTP: Do you believe in John 3:16?

184 QTP: What do being a Christian and John 3:16 mean?

185 QTP: How do being a Christian and John 3:16 apply to you and your life? Do they?

186 QTP: How has being a Christian changed your life?

187 QTP: How has being a Christian influenced your life today? (Literally.) 188 This week? 189 This month? 190 This year?

191 When did you become a Christian?

192 What led to you becoming a Christian?

193 What has kept you being a Christian?

194 How would you describe your Christ-Following journey from the time you first believed Jesus Christ died for the forgiveness of your sins to today? Be thorough with your answer. Take some time to respond. Make sure to touch on the blessings and the hard times, your questions, your difficulties, your prayers, and your answers to prayer as well.

What drew you to this Bible study?

I realize you might think it is odd that I am asking this question now. But, there is a method to my madness.

Please grab your journal workbooks and let us get started.

179 So, why did you start looking at this blog or reading the Bible study? What drew you in? What caught your attention?

180 Why have you stayed with the Bible study?

181 What do you hope to gain from this blog Bible study? (Please email me if this might help me to know what you would like to know more about and what you would like to explore. Plans for A Loyal Faith Series of Bible Studies

PLANS FOR A BIBLE STUDY SERIES
I just wanted to take a moment and keep you informed about my plans for the line of Bible study books I am writing of the A LOYAL FAITH line.

SERIES PLANS AFTER VOLUME 1
I will have the following series which stem from book 1:
A Topical Series
B Book of the Bible Series
C Bible Hero Series

One book from each series will be published per year (if not more).

BLOG POSTS
The blog posts are the most basic and are the most rough (as far as my writing goes). They will give you most of what you need. I will turn these into a FREE book you can find on Smashwords.com (the link below in this blog post).

It's called: "A LOYAL FAITH: AN INTRODUCTION, VOL. 1."

BIBLE STUDY BOOK
But, the Bible study book will cost some money ($7 is what I am leaning toward at this point) and will have more material. It will also be polished writing. I will call it: "A LOYAL FAITH: AN INTRODUCTORY BIBLE STUDY, VOL. 1."

THIS BLOG IS FIRST
I will put everything first on this blog.

THANK YOU
Thank you for following and participating in this lifelong Bible study.

Why this format of Bible study?: It is too much work

At this point, you might wonder why there are so many questions for you to answer. You might want, and prefer, more to be said by me (this author) and for there to be less work.

PART 1: THE BASELINE (WHERE WE ARE TODAY)
The first part of this blog post series, which I am turning into a book as we go, is establishing the baseline of where we are today. I've said it before, it is important to know where you are in order to know what growth you have had in particular areas in your life. We will also look at where we came from and where we are headed in Parts 2 and 3.

NOT ENOUGH TALK
Do not be concerned. There will be a great deal more said in the days to come. Trust me. You will get a great deal of talking/writing from me soon. I have tried to stay out of your way for now. I do not want to influence you in any way. I want you to be real and look at the dimensions of your faith--not me.

All of the blog posts leading to this one have been needed in order to set up the background and the baseline. That is one reason why there has not been a great deal said by me, the author. The other reason is I want to get out of your way while you try to figure out where you are and what you have learned to this point. I do not want to get between you and God. There has not been too much reason for me to talk too much (write too much). It's all been evaluating where you are, where you have been, and where you want to go.

Hang in there. There will be more writing on my part in a bit. We just need to journey in that direction.

TOO MUCH WORK
It depends on where you are, and on the day, as to whether you think this is too much work or not enough. Let's face it, life has its ups and downs and everything in-between. So will your drive with Bible study. Give yourself a break. Pay attention to what you need and most importantly what God is telling you. Adjust accordingly.

Let me start by saying I highly recommend at least one blog post with reflection questions and journaling per day--five to seven days per week. You will get the most out of this blog if you do and will develop a more loyal faith to God and his Word. With that being said, if you do not think there has been enough work, make sure to do more posts in a day. IF you do not, your spiritual progress will lag and you will most likely feel unfulfilled and like you want more. You do not need to stick with the specified one blog post per day.

However, if you think there has been too much work up to this point, I have a couple questions for you. Have you done one blog post, with journaling questions, per day? Or have you done more per day? I recommend one blog post per day--if there are questions to answer. If it's just reading, you can read more in one day. Does this help? (I know I just said this a minute ago, but I want to be clear and to underscore this point, please bear with me.)

There is something else to take into consideration about it taking a lot of work. You might need to work on adding more time to your daily schedule for your Daily Quiet Time (DQT). Add 15 minutes each week, as I mentioned previously.

Another idea as to this being too much work--is maybe knowing the reason.

WHY THIS FORMAT OF BIBLE STUDY AND WHY THIS SO MUCH WORK?
I have discovered that most of the Bible studies there are out there, you get bombarded with information. You are also bombarded with read this passage, answer these questions, etc. They are fast-paced and well worthwhile. I recommend doing them. However, I think a great deal of them miss 5 extremely valuable facets which are necessary with Bible study:

A Where have you come from in your journey of faith?
B What can you apply to your life specifically from the bible study--in your own words and from your own perspective? In other words, 'What is in it for me?'
C Review of the Bible study points, and your progress of your application, every few weeks.
D Analyzing what you have learned, done, and reviewed.
E What happens next regarding what you have learned, applied, reviewed, and analyzed with that Bible study?

Few of the Bible studies in which I refer leave time for things to digest and percolate. This is necessary. That's why with this one, we decided what to apply, we review, and we analyze.

A Bible study is not meant to be gone through and then dropped. That is precisely what most do. You are going through it, are on a high, and then as of the last session, that's up. You are finished. Sure, you might be on a spiritual high from it, but give it a month or two, you will most likely forget a great deal of what you learned--unless you keep re-reading the book. That's not fun. There ought to be a way we can remember, review, and analyze our progress (if any).

WHY THIS FORMAT? IT IS ALL-INCLUSIVE
You can use this format of review templates with all your spiritual actions: Prayer, Bible study, Bible reading, daily devotionals, Sunday sermons, sermons you get online, Christian living books, etc. In fact, I highly recommend it. This allows you to have everything you are learning, studying, and reflecting on in one place. And you can track your progress.

No other Bible study method out there offers this. If you don't look at every facet of your spiritual life, and link them together, it is difficult to keep it all straight. They are all facets which shape who you are today and in the future and are necessary.

In 20 years from now, it will be easy to see where you were. Does this make sense?

I hope this helps. I appreciate feedback.
